About Us
Boy Scout Troop 182 in Eugene, Oregon, has a long history. Founded in the Bicentennial Year of 1976, we have been teaching young men in leadership, outdoor skills, and fun via the Boy Scout Oath, Law and Outdoor Code for over 45 years.
The focus of our Troop is adventure. Our experience shows that challenging the boys mentally (via the Scout Oath, Law & Outdoor Code) and physically (via camping and high adventure outings) keeps them engaged and having fun while trekking their difficult path to Eagle Scout. As a youth-led Scouts BSA Troop, we have had over 35 Eagle Scouts, with fifteen in just the past 10 years.
In addition, we've had several "Senior Patrol Leaders of the Year" for our District, have been the top Troop at the annual Boy Scout Camporee multiple times, and our adult leadership has been honored with the "Award of Merit." (Not to mention, having earned the Journey to Excellence Gold unit quality award every year it's been offered.)
In July 2012, our Boy Scouts hiked at 10,000 feet above sea level throughout the Philmont High Adventure Scout Ranch in New Mexico. In 2015, we had a blast sailing in the Atlantic Ocean at SeaBase High Adventure. In August 2018, we returned to SeaBase, but this time to explore the Florida Keys by paddleboards, kayaks, deep-sea fishing boats, sail boats and snorkeling. In 2021, we traveled to West Virginia to the premiere scouting venue, The Summit Bechtel Reserve. In 2022, we'll be heading to Switzerland to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre.
And it's already time to start planning our next adventure for 2023. Where will it be? Canoeing the streams and lakes in northern Minnesota at Northern Tier? Sailing, snorkeling, and scuba diving in the Caribbean at SeaBase Virgin Islands? When you become a scout at Troop 182, you'll help us choose!
So, grab your backpack, strap on your boots, and join us for year-round Scouting fun!
Inside me there is an Eagle wanting to soar.
